The Long Branch, New Jersey, Beach Replenishment Story
In 1997, our beach looked very sad.
	And though it could look quite beautiful at times...
...it was too narrow to provide the city much protection against storms.
	Then the Army Corps of Engineers came along in a big red pump ship...
	...and laid pipe from the ship to the beach.
	They pumped sand onto the beach (center of photo), as well as tiny fishes that the seagulls enjoyed.
	Little by little the beach grew wider (view toward north)...
	...and wider (view toward south)...
	...until now it is very wide indeed...
	...and it's a great place to have a walk and a laugh with a friend.
